Challenge Complete and 2013

Hi folks,

I completed my charity Christmas challenge for Percy Hedley a few weeks ago and what an experience it was. I never expected the support I received or the the amount of money I’d raise too! The media were fantastic, I was in my local newspaper about 8 times and I also appeared on the local radio, which was another fantastic but nervous experience! I’ve written a full report on my blog called ‘So this is Christmas…‘ so make sure you check it out.

In 2012 I took part in the Pier to Pier, Total Warrior, the Newcastle Stampede and my own challenge, The 12 Days of Christmas. What does 2013 hold? Well I’d like to take part in at least two of the above but also try some more 10k runs. I’ve got my eye on the Gateshead, Sunderland and Bamburgh 10k runs. I’m still undecided but it’s important for me to get these in the diary as it gives me something to work towards.

I’m going to continue with my training the same as I did last year. This week was the first week back on the weights since my running challenge and I found the first session hard. I’ve probably lost about 20% of my strength compared to August-October last year. Training now will consist of bits of running, weight training and boxing. I love my kettlebells, this will form the basis of my weight training and I’m also thinking of investing in a squat rack.

I’m hoping 2013 is another big year for me. I’m certainly going to put in the time and effort again.

Thanks for reading,

I’m doing a few running events this year but nothing for charity. Maybe next year I’ll think about an even bigger challenge.
