7 Side Effects of Soda

Morning all,

I saw this on Facebook yesterday and I just had to share it with you. I don’t know anyone that doesn’t drink soda or ‘fizzy pop.’ I used to drink gallons of the stuff when I was younger but I hardly ever drink it now. The main reason for me was that it used to make me hungry and bloated. You wouldn’t believe the size my stomach used to grow to! Here are 7 reasons why you should think twice about drinking loads of soda.

1. Phosphoric acid

Soda is full of this stuff and it weakens your bones and rots your teeth!

2. Sweeteners

Excessive artificial sweeteners make you crave more. As I mentioned above, I found I was eating more once I’d had a drink. If you feel hungry in the first place, drink a glass of water as you’ll probably find you’re just thirsty and not hungry.

3. Caramel colour

It’s made form the chemical caramel and is purely cosmetic. It doesn’t add any flavour yet is tainted with carcinogens.

4. Formaldehyde, carcinogen

This is not added into the soda but when you digest aspartame, it will break down into 2 amino acids and methanol. Formic acid and formaldehyde (found in diet sodas).

5. High fructose corn syrup

This is a concentrated form of sugar, fructose derived from corn. It increases body fat, cholesterol and triglycerides and it also makes you hungry.

6. Potassium benzoate

This is a preservative that can be broken down to benzene  in your body. Keep your soda in the sun and benzene = carcinogen.

7. Food dyes

Impaired brain function hyperactive behaviour, difficulty focusing. Lack of impulse control.

Think about it,
